Named after the Englishman Horatio Caro and Austrian Markus Kann, the Caro-Kann is one of those timeless openings. A significant moment for its history was the year 1886, when Caro published an article in the Magazine 'Bruderschaft' featuring what is now known as the Caro-Kann Defence.
